In the community, he volunteers – or has in the past – for the United Way, the Boy Scouts (he is a Silver Beaver Award recipient for longtime commitment), the Sault Lions Club, the Sault Tribe's higher education committee, the Sault's annual I-500 snowmobile race, and the Michigan Municipal League, to name just a few. Munsell is a member of the alumni association's board of directors, as well as a member of the Laker Club. "LSSU provided me with a solid educational foundation, the best job in the world, and a great retirement," Munsell said. LSSU's first financial aid director, Munsell retired in 1998 after more than 30 years of service.ĭuring that time he saw the campus more than double in size while grants and other financial assistance for students increased from approximately $40,000 to $13 million. Munsell will receive the LSSU Alumni Association's Outstanding Alumnus Award. We are honored to be hosting them and they are all very deserving of the awards they are receiving." Shane Woolever, are never far from campus, of course, but Bud Denker and Sophie Chandauka, especially, are traveling a long way to be with us for this celebration of their accomplishments.
